Llangollen is most famous for the International Musical Eisteddfod held in July each year, when musicians, singers and dancers from all over the world come to compete at the Royal International Pavillion, Llangollen is, however, a popular all-year-round holiday destination and it has something to offer everyone. Overlooked by the

13th century ruins of Dinas Bran Castle, the town has a carefully restored station and steam railway for trips through the scenic Dee Valley. From Llangollen Wharf, horse drawn trips can be taken on the Llangollen Canal and longer journeys made by narrowboat across the majestic Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.

Historic monuments include Valle Crucis Abbey and the 9th century Pillar of Eliseq in the foothills of Horshoe Pass. Museums include the Motor Museum and Canal Exhibition, and the Llangollen Museum. Plas Newydd, the former home of 'the Ladies of Llangollen', is on the edge of town and two major National Trust properties,

Chirk Castle and Erdigg are nearby. There is horse racing at Bangor-on-Dee, and many activities for children at Park Hall.
